With your help, sticker sales and donations will be the seeds that grow the fund!
As far as clichés go, "every cloud has a silver lining" is a pretty solid feel good expression about optimism and hope. But it doesn't mean much without Action. For Silver in the City, Action is using our voice along with our platform and privilege to speak out for what we believe in. Action also takes the form of philanthropy.
At Silver in the City we believe in equality and that belief has driven actions to protect Reproductive Rights and LGBTQ+ rights. Now we are heeding the call to act for Racial Justice and are focusing on efforts to provide opportunity for Racial Equity within central Indiana communities.
How do we do this? We have teamed up with the Central Indiana Community Foundation, to create our fund. Through their Equity Partners Fund and IMPACT grants we will have opportunities to participate in addressing racial disparities in housing, healthcare, education, employment and criminal justice within Central Indiana communities.
We will specifically be looking for projects led by members of the communities that have suffered from racial inequality. We want to provide the Silver Lining that can give a boost to the visions, dreams, and hard work of Black leaders. Because we are a small business and small financial contributor in this effort, we have a unique opportunity to connect with other small organizations and businesses that might otherwise be overlooked by the amazing philanthropic giants who are putting forth millions towards addressing racial disparities on a local level.
We hope you share our excitement and consider being part of the journey to not only feel hopeful about ending systemic racism, but to use our hope to spur actions that support Black-owned businesses and community leaders in Central Indiana.
While the current COVID-19 crisis required us to alter plans for an anniversary celebration and 100% donation day to seed our fund, we are currently seeding this fund through checkout donations, sticker sales and direct donations. Following our own COVID recovery, we will donate 1% of all sales to the fund.
Our first goal is to raise $5,000 to provide a COVID Relief grant to a black-owned small business. Will you help us reach that goal? Donate now and spread the word (fund name: Silver in the City Silver Linings). Together we can create more Silver Linings.
