Meet the Makers: Party of One!

Party of One is a gift and paper goods line by Alisa Bobzien. Everything is designed and hand-packaged in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Alisa Bobzien started an Etsy shop, Party of One, in 2010 after designing a small number of prints for a local holiday craft market. At the time, she was working 9-5 as an in-house designer for a scrapbooking and stationery company. As she grew her product line and sales, she realized that this little seed of a business was something she wanted to pursue full-time. When her employer downsized the entire design department a few years later, she seized the opportunity by focusing all her energy and effort into developing her services and product line. Alisa now happily works for herself, thanks to all the people and retailers who make a point to support independent makers!

Alisa creates all her designs from scratch and then sources the printing and production using as many local sources as possible. She packages every item by hand and spend most of her evenings folding cards, sleeving prints, stickering mugs, and packing up wholesale orders. Her daytime work hours are reserved for designing new products, processing orders, and all the daily administration required to run a small business.

Alisa describes herself as: designer of funny cards and modern art prints, lover of cats, drinker of coffee, reader of books. On a mission to defiantly thrive.
